Review of Keedox MXIII Amlogic Android 4.4.2 M82 S802 Quad Core Smart 4K TV Box

图片
5 Stars Review of Keedox MXIII Amlogic Android 4.4.2 M82 S802 Quad Core Smart 4K TV Box This review is written by TOP 50 REVIEWER on Amazon Kimberly R. Norton. This Andriod stream works much better than I expected it to work. I tested it with Netflix and the box worked flawlessly. When accessing Netflix you will need to enter your email address and password. Ditto for your Google account. If you have a wireless keyboard then get it out - as it will save you a bunch of frustration. Without the keyboard you will need to move the remote around the screen and it is a pain, especially for long email addresses and long passwords. I do not think you can watch Amazon instant videos on this box unless you have some special software that lets you look at flash videos. But most people with Andriod devices are a part of the Google ecosystem and this device works seamlessly with Google. I have several Andriod TV boxes and this one is by far my favorite. I must say, I am impressed by this one. ...

US officials blame North Korea for the Sony attacks

图片
US officials blame North Korea for the Sony attacks Government intelligence sources from The New York Times and CNBC may have finally uncovered the source of the infamous Sony hack. Both publications report the attack comes from North Korea. At the very least they were ordered by the Asian country. It’s also claimed that while North Korea ordered the attack, it was done from elsewhere. We will hear more details tomorrow, in an official statement. Opinion:  Let’s hope we can get some serious answers from the US government. This whole fiasco has been nothing but rumors and leaks (literally).

Nexus 9 review

图片
Google Books PDF Test: Nexus 9 Finally! The Nexus 9, as I encountered it. One-handed grip is possible. The focus is off, but I was surprised at how thin it was. Does it feel cheap? Let’s just say it doesn’t feel like $399. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4  feels  like money. See where my thumb is? That front edge is a bit sharp. And we get right down to it: Foxit Mobile PDF being downloaded directly from the Play Store. But first I tried reading the PDF via streaming from Google Docs … … the experience was miserable. The Best Buy store WiFi was jammed. I did a video of this but it’s not worth posting. This joint , to grab the test PDFs: How fast the site pulled up was amazing. Something went awry in downloading. The iOS version of  The American Magazine  was unsuccessful: Ignore the camera sensor interference pattern. I didn’t bother to smooth it with a filter. I hogged the shit out of that Nexus 9. A fellow kept passi...

Samsung could release an “Edge” variant of the Galaxy S6 – report

图片
From the recent launch of the  Galaxy Note Edge , it’s apparent that  Samsung  has been trying to stand out from the competition. Though we had our reservations about the new form factor, the next Samsung flagship could launch with an “Edge” variant as well. As reported by SamMobile, Samsung is rumored to launch a different form factor along the Galaxy S6 next year. Much like the Note line this year, the Galaxy S6 is said to launch in two variants: one with a plain slab of glass like we’re used to, and one with a curved-edge display. We’re unsure if the screen will have the same curve on the right edge like we saw at the Note Edge, but we’re hoping Samsung improves on the form factor, as the curved screen device had some problems of its own. Left-handed use was one of the problems we ran into with the Note Edge, as was the form factor in general. Overall, the phone felt interesting, weird, but very tough to get used to. It’s a different idea that we don’t necessarily want...

Online travel wars: China’s Tuniu takes a shot at LY.com

图片
When it comes to online travel, China is different. Chinese tourists, by and large, don’t like forging their own path, preferring instead to travel in tour groups with carefully-planned itineraries and Chinese-speaking tour guides every step of the way. The country’s online travel marketplaces have grown to accommodate this, so where a Western online travel site mostly offers deals on flights and hotels, Chinese sites offer deals on full tour-guide-led trips. But of course, this means that instead of just working with airlines and hotels, China’s travel sites also need to work with the country’s many travel agencies – the companies that coordinate and operate those group trips. That means that in a price war, things can get ugly, and that’s apparently what’s happening now.  Techweb is reporting  that according to several travel agencies, Chinese travel site  Tuniu  is demanding that all of its partner agencies give it lower prices than they give to LY.com, a rival on...

Google Santa Tracker updated for 2014, brings Chromecast and Android Wear support

图片
It’s that time of year again! The Google Santa Tracker is back, and it has come with a slew of new mini games, as well as support for the  Chromecast  and  Android Wear . From now until Christmas, we’ll begin to see new mini games added to the Tracker. They’ll all show up on the Santa’s Village webpage as well as the newly updated Android app. All of the fun racing games are back, along with some highly educational goodies. New this year, Google has made available some new geography games that let you explore worldwide holiday traditions, JavaScript lessons, and instructions on how to say “Santa” in different languages. If you’d like to follow Santa and his journey all around the world, you can visit the  website , download the Android app, use the  Chrome extension , and even put it on your television via Chromecast. In the Android app changelog, Android Wear support was added, but we’re unsure of how it will integrate with the platform. Hopefully we’ll get a b...

The Dragonfly Futurefön may be the most ridiculous laptop hybrid ever

图片
Arguably the “holy grail” of the tech universe is an all-in-one device that can successfully do  everything  we need to successfully live in our modern world: acting as a replacement for our laptop, tablet and even our smartphone. While such a product could be extremely convenient, attempts to create such a device have generally failed when it comes down to execution. The Dragonfly Futurefön is another futile endeavor that aims high but ultimately bends, twists, and dual-boots in all the wrong ways. One of the first things you’ll notice about Dragonfly Futurefön, aside from its odd name, are the dual screens attached to the keyboard. The idea behind this unique dual-screen setup is that you can dual-boot Windows or Android using one or both monitors at a time. The right-most monitor detaches from the base, allowing you to use it as a tablet or a phone. Yes, that’s right, you can use it as a phone. They’re calling the phone the “Slingshot,” and since it’s a tablet/phone hybrid,...

Google: KitKat is now on 33.9% of Android devices

图片
Even though KitKat has become merely a chocolaty residue over in Mountain View, for a large chunk of users it’s still their defacto OS build. Literally. Thanks to new data provided by Google itself, the Nestlé wafer is quite a popular product indeed, at least as far as Android goes. 4.4 is now sitting comfortably at 33.9% of all device traffic to the Play Store. Take a look: This is very refreshing information given that many OEMs are slow to provide updates, if they bother at all. On the other hand, given the explosion in budget priced phones in the past year, as well as the success of companies like  Xiaomi , it’s equally possible that there were simply more new phones made with KitKat pre-installed rather than suggesting existing phones were in fact, updated. While this data includes tablets as well, given their lesser popularity, one might be correct in assuming the majority of traffic was generated by phones. It is also only fair to mention that Google has collected this d...

Verizon has a Blaze (RED) LG G3 that looks stylish while promoting AIDS awareness

图片
HIV is a scary disease, but also one that has become much less of a threat thanks to the development of advanced antiviral medications. Nonetheless, HIV/AIDS awareness is a very important step in preventing infection, treating it, and understanding it.  RED.org  has been actively involved in promoting awareness for over a decade, with partner companies cresting products with the branding and/or color, and a percentage of the revenue going towards HIV awareness campaigns in Africa. With that in mind, Verizon has a RED edition of LG’s  popular G3  smartphone, and for Cyber Monday it’s available for $0 when entering into a two-year contract agreement (sorry, EDGE buyers still have a monthly installment). For all those interested in supporting a good cause, and looking good while doing it, the Blaze RED G3 might be exactly what the doctor ordered, especially when paired with the free LG G Pad that Verizon appears to be giving away with the phone (make sure to check t...

Beginners Guide to Shortwave Listening

Beginners Guide to Shortwave Listening Introduction The following is a distillation of my experience of being an SWL and Amateur Radio Operator over a number of years. I started shortwave listening when I was 14, having built my first short wave radio. This was a simple TRF design using one valve (or tube). Back in the early seventies, there were 1000’s of stations on the air and even a simple receiver pulled in many hundreds. So I was ‘hooked’ for life. There have been a number times when I have had to give up the hobby due to family, work etc., but I have always returned! Be aware, shortwave listening becomes a life-long passion! The following is by no means exhaustive, but it should give you a start. Where to start So where does one start in the hobby of shortwave listening? There are a number of ways and as in most hobbies, it can be reasonably cheap or expensive. The least expensive route is to purchase one of the many capable and inexpensive portable receivers which incorporate s...
